Absolutes are similar to Essential Oils, only their method of extraction is much more complex. They are solvent extracted products with the solvent being evaporated off at the end of the process. Absolutes are often used for delicate flowers such as rose and jasmine. Additionally, absolutes have the benefit of not being heated during the extraction process, and thus creating an essential oil with a fragrance that is oftentimes more true to the original flower. There is very little oil in the plant parts being used. As an example, it requires over 30 Roses to produce 1 drop of Rose Absolute!
